With Joan Baez being inducted Friday into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we unearthed this unusual Baez photo from our archives for a Throwback Thursday item. Baez is usually thought of as being a serious activist with an angelic voice.

But this photo shot by Kathy Willens of the defunct Miami News shows an earthier, playful side of the folk legend. She is sticking out her tongue at somebody while on stage with two other Rock Hall inductees — Bob Dylan and Roger McGuinn of the Byrds — during Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue in Gainesville in 1976.
As far as the fashions on stage, all we can say is “It was the ’70s, man.”
